The Australian job market has become increasingly difficult to navigate.

I was inspired to build Salary Insider after hearing how disheartening the process had become for friends, recent university graduates and early to mid career professionals, many without industry connections. They described spending hours on applications without clear salary information, transparent feedback, or confidence that the advertised roles were really looking for candidates to fill them.

Like many people, I came to see that the recruitment process has a built-in information imbalance. Recruiters and employers often know the salary range, whether a role is actively being filled, and how applications will be screened, while job seekers are expected to invest their time without the same visibility. That imbalance is unfair, and Salary Insider exists to put more useful information back in job seekers' hands.

Salary Insider began as a local Python tool for people close to me. When I realised it might also be useful to others navigating the job market, I rebuilt it for the web and expanded it with additional tools. The site is independently owned and focused on the needs of Australian job seekers.

Each free tool supports a different stage of the job search. The Job Ad Analyser surfaces advertised or estimated salary information and flags potential ghost-job signals before you apply. The Resume Checker shows what applicant tracking systems (ATS) can read and highlights gaps between your resume and the job description. The Pay Calculator estimates what a salary could mean for your take-home pay.

As a seasoned data scientist, I have studied the Australian salary and recruitment landscape in depth. Each tool is grounded in careful analysis, credible data sources, and clearly stated assumptions. Where evidence is incomplete, results are presented as estimates and signals rather than guarantees.
