1. Overview
Salary Insider ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our website at salaryinsider.com.au (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described below.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:
- Usage data: Pages visited, time spent, referring URLs, and browser/device information collected automatically via cookies or analytics tools.
- Job listing URLs: When you use the Job Ad Analyser, the URL you submit is processed to retrieve publicly available information. We keep a server-side log of each lookup - the submitted URL, the job details and salary or ghost-job results returned, an anonymised visitor identifier, and the time of the request - to understand how the tool is used, improve tool accuracy, and to protect it from user abuse. Job ads checked in the last 7 days may also be shown publicly on the Job Ad Analyser page, listing only the advertisement’s own public details (job title, employer, location and salary). Nothing identifying the visitor who checked an ad is ever displayed.
- Australian Salary Search job titles: Australian Salary Search runs entirely in your browser against a dataset downloaded to your device, so what you type is not normally sent anywhere. The one exception is when the tool fails to understand a job title: if nothing matches, if the match is weak, or if you correct the match by choosing a different occupation, we send that job title, the occupation the tool chose, the one you chose instead, the selected state or territory, the match confidence score, a pseudonymous visitor identifier, and the time of the request. This is the only way to find the phrasings the tool does not yet recognise. Titles that match confidently and are not corrected are never sent. Failure records are automatically removed after 90 days, and the log is capped so it cannot grow without bound.
- Resume Checker uploads: When you use the Resume Checker, your resume and any job description you provide are analysed temporarily in memory to generate your report. The uploaded file, its contents, and the job-description text are then discarded; they are never written to disk, retained, or shared. We retain only anonymised usage information, such as an anonymised visitor identifier, file type and score. We never retain your resume, its filename, your name or your contact details.
- Voluntarily provided information: Any information you choose to submit through contact forms or feedback channels.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Site and its tools.
- Understand how visitors use the Site so we can make it more useful.
- Respond to inquiries or feedback you send us.
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
4. Cookies and Analytics
We use two analytics tools to understand how the Site is used, so we can improve it. We do not use analytics to identify you personally, and we never link analytics data to the contents of a resume, a pasted job URL, a salary figure, or a contact message.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics - a privacy-first tool that measures page views and referrers without cookies and without tracking you across sites. It runs for all visitors.
- Google Analytics 4, via Google Tag Manager - measures page views and a small set of anonymous interaction events (for example, running a salary lookup, using a calculator, or expanding an FAQ). These events record only the outcome or category of an action, never the underlying content you entered. Google Analytics uses cookies.
Your choices. We apply Google Consent Mode. Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom are shown a consent banner and analytics/advertising storage stays denied until they accept. Elsewhere, including Australia - which has no cookie-consent law - Google Analytics is enabled by default and no banner is shown. Wherever you are, you can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link in the site footer, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. The Site remains fully functional if you decline.
5. Third-Party Services
The Job Ad Analyser retrieves publicly available data. We are not affiliated with any job search platforms. Your use of any third-party sites linked from ours is governed by those sites' own privacy policies.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information transmitted to and from the Site. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.
7. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
9. Contact Us
