These percentiles rank taxable income — what's left after deductions — using your estimated taxable income after salary sacrifice and deductions from the calculator above. The population is the 13.2 million people who actually paid net tax; another ~3 million lodged a return but paid none. Figures come from 2023–24 tax returns, the most recent published, while the calculator uses current-year tax rates — so the tax amounts here won't match your estimate above. Study and training loan (HECS-HELP) repayment thresholds 2026–27

Medicare levy and surcharge 2026–27
The Medicare levy is 2% of taxable income for most residents. No levy applies at or below $28,011; it then shades in at 10c per $1 until the full rate is reached. These thresholds are carried forward from 2025–26 because the ATO hasn't published this year's figures yet: they are legislated retrospectively and are expected around the May 2027 Budget. The Medicare levy surcharge applies to singles without private hospital cover:
| Income for surcharge purposes | Tax on this income |
|---|---|
| $0 – $105,000 | Nil |
| $105,001 – $123,000 | 1% of income |
| $123,001 – $164,000 | 1.25% of income |
| $164,001 and over | 1.5% of income |
Superannuation guarantee: employers must contribute at least 12% of ordinary-time earnings on top of salary in 2026–27.

Take-Home Pay FAQ
How is my take-home pay calculated?
We calculate estimated annual tax for your selected financial year, including applicable offsets, Medicare levy, Medicare levy surcharge, and study or training loan repayments. Salary sacrificed to super is also excluded from take-home pay. Results are shown annually, monthly, fortnightly, weekly and daily. The daily figure divides annual take-home by 260 paid days: 5 days a week for 52 weeks, including paid leave and public holidays. If you are not paid for those days, enter your actual annual income instead of a day rate.
Is superannuation included in my pay?
You can enter either a salary excluding super or a total package including super. Choose the matching option. The calculator shows employer super separately from cash salary and take-home pay, alongside your total package.
How accurate is the estimate provided by the pay calculator?
Treat the result as a guide, not an exact payslip. Enter any salary sacrifice and private health details in the options. Other income, your remaining study-loan balance, unsupported circumstances and payroll rounding can still change actual pay.
